Our Vision

Help build bridges of friendship between students in Sri Lanka and students in the USA

Help restore tsunami damaged schools in Sri Lanka

We plan to help tsunami affected children return to school and resume normal school related activities.

Our initial project is to award gift vouchers to at least 500 students in the four coastal provinces directly affected by the tsunami, i.e. the Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western Provinces; the gift vouchers will enable students to purchase a year's supply of books and educational materials.

Our second project is to expand and upgrade Buena Vista School in the Galle district, which is absorbing students from a tsunami devastated school that had to be relocated due to its proximity to the Galle coast.

Other similar projects will be undertaken as funds become available.

We aim to improve the living standards of poor families in Sri Lanka through the improvement of educational standards.

We have received a generous contribution of US $3,500 from a collection at a tsunami fund raising dance organized by St. Albans School in Washington, D.C.; we have additionally received US $500 collected by the dormitory students at St. Albans School.

Part of the collection of the tsunami bracelet fund drive organized by Burning Tree Elementary School in Bethesda, Maryland, will be donated to our organization.

Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, is working with our organization to develop a long term partnership with Moratu Maha Vidyalaya, which is located in the outskirts of Colombo, Sri Lanka.  Three students from Vanderbilt University visited Moratu Maha Vidyalaya during May 2005 to assess the needs of the Sri Lankan school and its students.  Additional students from Vanderbilt University will visit Moratu Maha Vidyalaya next year to foster this long-term partnership between the U.S. university and Sri Lankan school.
